Editor’s note: We’re excited to announce that one of our Mocha Club members and volunteers, Annie, will be blogging from Capetown, South Africa on the Mocha Club trip that leaves on May 28th! This is our first official “trip blogger” so please help us spread the word and check back for updates!

Hi y’all. I should have known better. I should have known that if I planned to pack on Tuesday, it would actually get done on Wednesday. I’m not a great pre-packer. And honestly, the pressure of you waiting on the video is the only reason I’m packed now. A few things:

1) I’m learning how to use this newfangled flip video camera. It’s very cool, but forgive the shaky-shakes.

2) We have a professional video editor that works with us at Mocha Club. I am not her.

3) Once I finished the video, I realized I had forgotten to pack any pants. So for total honesty’s sake, you should know that I’m going to have to pack some pants.

We leave for South Africa from Nashville on Thursday, May 28th but don’t arrive in Cape Town until Saturday. We’ll update you as soon as we are able.

After going to Kenya in June 2011, my perspective shifted.  I watched orphans joyfully kick a "football" made out of cloth and my heart yearned for their simplicity and hope.  I give to Mocha Club because it's simple and purposeful.  Giving up what I want to provide others with what they need.

I first heard about the Mocha Club when I saw someone wearing the shirt and knew I needed it. See I love Africa - I love everything about that continent - the people, the landscape, the joy, the tears.  I had the joy of going to Uganda with my church in 2011 and had my love become a reality.  Being with the people, working with them, loving on them, they truly blessed me more than I could ever bless them.  The joy overflows there and they remind you that true delight comes in relationships and God and not in earthly treasures.  Every time I hear or see the word Africa I get excited and am anxious to explore what God's plans are for me regarding this wonderful place.
